PROGRESS UPDATE: Renovations bring fresh life to historic home

The exterior of the box bay window with the newly restored and painted timber

Recent dry weather has seen the construction team make great progress on the renovations at Ngaio Marsh House. The restoration of the box bay window in the dining room is almost complete, with just one more pane of glass to be installed.

The recent fine weather has allowed good progress on site

Old timber has been reused where possible and the new timber has blended in beautifully. The mouldings have been replicated very successfully.

Rotten weatherboards on the exterior are also well on their way to being repaired. Work has started on the laundry (a private part of the house), including the guttering.

We are delighted with how the work is going, and we are currently on track to reopen the house on 18 June. We will also have some new signage installed with our latest branding, so you should have no trouble finding the smart new (and old) us!

The Trustees would like to extend a huge thank you to our volunteer property manager Craig Sargison, Bates Joinery and the Build McBride team for their time, expertise, care and attention of our precious taonga.
